The Bill Mason collection consists of typical cameras and other equipment in the 16 mm format widely used by documentary film makers in Canada in this period. This waterproof camera case was constructed from the top half of a plastic canoe-tripping barrel. The container design evolved from plastic tubs used to transport chemicals: outdoor enthusiasts recognised the usefulness of these containers and "repurposed" them.
