Canada: This camera represents the introduction of a light field photography technology in Canada, a new point in the history and development of digital photography.
Fonction: Part of an enclosure to contain and protect its contents and to provide product information.
Technique: Light field photography (plenoptic photography) captures all the available light in a scene from every direction through an array of micro lenses over an image sensor (ref. 2). The camera's software then uses this data to determine the directions of incoming light rays. This type of photographic technology allows users to determine the focus of their photograph in post-processing. As there is no need to ficus the lens before taking a picture, the Lytro camera can capture images quicker than a conventional point-and-shoot digital camera. The ability to adjust focus in post-processing also allows the use of larger apertures than those feasible with conventional cameras, which enables photography in low-light environments without a flash (ref. 3). Users are able to convert Lytro camera's proprietary image in a regular JPEG file, at a desired focal plane, the the resulting image having 1080 X 1080 pixels.
