Canada: Part of a large collection of medical artifacts, archival material & trade literature transferred to CSTM in 2002 from the former History of Medicine Museum, Toronto, ON. This item formerly belonged to Dr. H.B. Lane [1897- c. 1970s], who practiced in Toronto during the 1920s, and was on the staff of Toronto Western Hospital. [Ref.2]

Marques: Scale range is 95 to 110, divided in increments of .2 and labelled at intervals of 5; arrow and full gradient line mark point at which human temperature is considered elevated [98.4 degrees] . Also marked on casing is " "RECTAL" 1 MINUTE / INGRAM & BELL LTD./ MADE IN ENGLAND". UHN catalogue no. "990.6.1a" printed by hand in black ink on bulb end.
