The Mavic 2 Pro is significant because it was the first drone at CTV Edmonton to be regularly used live on air. It was purchased by CTV Edmonton in 2019 as an upgrade to the Inspire 1 Pro and they were using this drone almost daily for visual elements of stories and for live broadcasts. A particular highlight was the Greta Thunberg march in Edmonton on October 18, 2019. Today, the drones are used for each daily live news show (4 times per day, for traffic, weather, and news stories), as well as for pre-recorded content. The contribution of content from the Mavic 2 Pro was so significant that CTV Edmonton licensed their third drone pilot to help cover the load. Technical

The DJI Mavic 2 Pro was superior to the Inspire 1 Pro for CTV Edmonton’s daily newsgathering purposes for a number of reasons: (a) the data link was even more stable; (b) the drone performed smoother and more stable motion shots; (c) the drone was smaller and quicker to set up/deploy/take down; and (d) the Dejero connection was more reliable and stable. Missing

Artifact is missing its Smart controller, Battery (lithium cells have been removed for safety reasons), and Pelican hard body carrying case. Finish

An artifact made of grey synthetic material. It has a rectangular body with a transparent synthetic sphere on its front that protects a metal camera. The camera has silver writing above and below its lens. Two white labels with black lettering are on top of the body as well as one piece of tape with black handwriting on it. The artifact has four wings. The two front wings fold alongside the body while the two back wings fold below it. The wings have metal rods extending from each of them for a propeller. The wings also have silver and white stickers on both their front and back. The proper left side of the drone has a single piece of black Velcro. A silver sticker with black lettering is visible on the back of the proper right front wing. Un artefact fait avec du matériel synthétique de couleur grise. Il y a un corps rectangulaire avec une sphère transparente en matériel synthétique qui protège une caméra en métal. La caméra a un lettrage en argent en haut et en bas de sa lentille. Deux étiquettes blanches ont un lettrage noir sur le dessus du corps de l'objet ainsi qu'un morceau de ruban adhésif Scotch avec une écriture à la main de couleur noire aussi. L'objet a quatre ailes. Les deux ailes du devant se replient sur son corps pendant que les deux ailes du derrière ce pli sous son corps. Les ailes ont une tige en métal qui ressort du haut des ailes pour une pale d'hélice. Les ailes ont des autocollants blancs et argent sur leur devant et arrière. Le bon côté gauche du drone a un morceau de Velcro de couleur noire. Un autocollant de couleur argent avec du lettrage noire est visible à l'arrière de l'aile du bon côté droit.
