The Inspire 1 Pro was the first drone at CTV Edmonton to be used live on air in 2016 as an upgrade to the Phantom 2. It captured a live weather shot over the west end of Edmonton. Cam (the drone’s operator) believes this footage is also one of the first live drone shots ever used in Canada, and possibly North America. The success of CTV Edmonton in using this footage would eventually culminate in the purchase of a fleet of drones (starting in 2019 with the Mavic 2 Pro) and the training of two additional drone pilots between 2019 and 2022 to bring their total to three licensed drone pilots for the news station. Function

This storage case was used to transport the Inspire 1 Pro drone out into the field by the CTV Edmonton news team. It also kept the drone and all its components safe during transport. Cet étui était utilisé pour transporter l'Inspire 1 Pro drone au champ par l'équipe des nouvelles à CTV Edmonton. L'étui était aussi utilisé pour garder le drone et toutes ces composantes en sécurité pendant le transport.

Technical

The Inspire 1 Pro came equipped with its own high-quality camera (previous models, like the Phantom 2, required the purchase of a GoPro). The Inspire 1 Pro camera captured stabilized 4K video and also permitted the use of exchangeable lenses. It also had the option of an additional hand controller, which meant that two camera operators could control the drone at once: a “pilot” controlling flight and a “camera operator” controlling video. This made the use of other features, like zoom, much easier to effectively control. The Inspire 1 Pro had more stable video connection with the ground hand controller, as well as permitted use of the drone over further distances. Most significantly, it could accommodate live video transmission. This made it an ideal candidate for news broadcasting and an obvious upgrade from the Phantom 2. Finish

A black box made of synthetic material. It has a manufacturing sticker on its front lid. The lid is hinged with the help of a single metal rod running down the spine of the lid. The storage case has a clasp to shut it as well as a handle on either end of its width. The handles and clasps are held together with metal fasteners and made of black synthetic material. The case also has three clasps on its front along with a handle that are yet again held in place with two metal fasteners. Each one of the clasps has markings on it. An extendable black synthetic handle can also be unlocked on the artifacts proper left side. A black button made of synthetic material with markings on it can also be found below the main middle handle. On the bottom of the artifacts proper right side is a set of two wheels. Under the case there are twelve metal screws as well as markings. Une boite synthétique de couleur noire. Il a un autocollant du manufacturier sur son couvercle. En dessous de l'objet sur son bon côté droit il y a une paire de roues et douze vises en métal ainsi que des marques de fabrication.
