Taken from acquisition proposal "retrouvé au Canada, dans une école privée pour filles, Alma College, située à St. Thomas, Ontario. Cette école ouvrit les portes en 1881 et ferma en 1988 suite à une grève des professeurs. Sa réputation était internationale. L’appareil se trouvait dans le grenier de l’institution abandonnée. M. Peper l’a obtenu une semaine avant que l’école ne soit détruite par un incendie en 2008.". - Function

Taken from acquisition proposal "Le générateur électrostatique de ce type a été inventé par Jesse Ramsden vers 1768. Il semble d’après les sources qu’il a été fréquemment utilisé. Jesse Ramsden était un mathématicien et un fabricant d’instruments scientifiques de l’Angleterre. (October 6, 1735 - November 5, 1800). Son générateur était composé d’un disque rotatif en verre, d’une manivelle pour tourner le disque, de 4 coussinets de friction en cuir, et de condensateurs (capacitors) tubulaires en laiton isolés par les supports en verre. Le courant obtenu était utilisé pour un usage thérapeutique. Les générateurs Ramsden furent aussi largement diffusés dans les lycées en Europe au 19e siècle pour l’enseignement.". - Area Notes
