This artifact is both promotional and commemorative. It was given to Mr. South by Sandia Laboratory who specialize in stable renewable energies. Function

This cross section of a wind turbine was used as a promotional tool to highlight the involvement of Alcoa in the field of wind energy. Cette coupe transversale d’une éolienne était utilisée comme outil de promotion pour souligner la participation de la compagnie Alcoa avec l’industrie d’énergie éolienne.

Technical

Sandia began to build VAWT based on the South and Rangi’s design in 1974. For a while this type of turbine dominated the North American wind energy farms. Alcoa produced the VAWT blades for Sandia and invested in the early 1980s in the wind energy research with a goal of improving the blade design. At the time South and Rangi were considered experts in the field. Sandia a commencé à créer des VAWT avec les spécifications de M. South et M. Rangi en 1974. Finish

A silver metal object with a rounded end as well as a pinched flat end. The artifact is shaped like a teardrop and has the manufacturer’s name written in black lettering on its front. Un objet en métal de couleur argent qui a un côté pincé et un autre côté arrondi. Decoration

A decal on the front of the artifact has two silver diamonds with a silver triangle stacked on top of both diamonds. Inside the three shapes is one black triangle standing upside down on its point.
