This camera was given to the donor by his wife as a gift for their 25th wedding anniversary on August 31, 1999. This camera was used extensively by the donor on both personal and business-related occasions. Over the course of the next five years, the camera was used at mining trade shows and conferences in Toronto and Quebec City, as well as Acapulco, Cape town, Johannesburg, Santiago, Santo Domingo, and Belo Horizonte. Throughout this time, it was also used for a great deal of personal photography at the Club de Yachting Portage Champlain in Hull. It was also used for vacations to France, Cuba, and Jamaica, and to take photographs and video at the wedding of the owner’s son. This battery charger is for the Mavica FD83 camera to ensure it had replenished its batteries so it could record still images and videos. Technical

The Mavica (Magnetic Video Camera) FD83 was released by Sony in 1999. The MVC-FD83 records both still images in jpeg format and video files in mpeg format onto 3.5’’ floppy diskettes with the help of its own rechargeable lithium ion battery. Its equipped lens had the ability to zoom up to 6x and it boasted a shutter speed of 1/4000 of a second. The MVC-FD83 has a 2.5” LCD on the back of the camera for focusing and for viewing photographs. This camera has a resolution of 0.85 megapixels, but can achieve a resolution of over 1 Mp. Images may be recorded in one of two image quality modes: standard, to give a standard image quality; and fine. Still images of can be taken in one of three recording modes as either normal mode, voice mode, or email mode. Floppy diskettes could record 25-50 images of lower quality or 2-5 higher quality images taken by the Mavica. Finish

A black synthetic box with white writing on its front as well as clasps to slide and lock a battery into place. Two metal prongs are visible in two holes on its top. The back of the charger has a manufacturing sticker with white writing. Another sticker with white lettering is also visible on its side. Une boite synthétique de couleur noire avec du lettrage blanc sur sont dessus. Le devant a aussi des loquets pour fixer et glisser une batterie en place. Deux fourches en métal sont visibles sur sa tête dans deux trous. Il y a un autocollant du manufacturier sur son dos avec de l'écriture blanche. Un autre autocollant est visible sur le côté du chargeur avec du lettrage blanc aussi.
