This helmet was originally acquired by the donor in 1965 when he purchased a Honda 50 motorcycle from a dealer in Verdun, Quebec. The dealership recommended that he purchased this type of helmet to accompany the motorcycle. The donor wore the helmet whenever he rode his Honda 50 around Montreal and kept using it once he moved to Ottawa in the late 1960s, but eventually stopped wearing it when he sold his motorcycle. The donor also stated that he also stopped using this helmet due to the fact that it did not provide any protection to the side of the head. He eventually purchased a helmet that offered more protection. During the 1960s there was a global debate over mandatory helmet laws. Australia was the first country to implement a law making helmets mandatory in 1961. Canada followed this trend as Alberta and British Columbia made helmets required equipment in 1968. Technical

The manufacturer of this helmet, Stadium Ltd. was established circa the late 1920s as they specialized in plastics for the motor industry. This type of helmet is often referred to as a "half-helmet". It is bowl-shaped and only covers the top of the head. This type of helmet was popular in the United Kingdowm and throughout Europe in the 1960s but only met the minimal requirements set out by motorcycle regulations. Many motorcyle safety organizations continue to ban the use of these helmets. Judging by the brown residue on the edge of the front of the helmet, looks like the helmet may of had a sticker. En observant le résidu sur le rebord et le devant du casque, on dirait qu'il avait auparavant un autocollant.

Finish

Red bowl-shaped helmet with synthetic exterior with a white line passing through the center of the helmet from front to back. The edge of the helmet has a white border with red strips. The inside of the helmet has a layer of white leather stitched into the helmet with a white leather chin strap and a metal silver button. The inside of the helmet also has red and beige cloth fabric. The inside of the helmet has a layer of flexible grey foam. The final layer of the helmet is made of cork wood. Casque rouge en forme de bol avec extérieur synthétique avec une ligne blanche qui passe à travers le centre du casque du devant au derrière. Le rebord du casque a une bordure blanche et des petites lignes rouges. L'intérieur du casque a une couverture de cuir blanc cousu dans le casque avec une mentonnière en cuir blanc et un bouton en métal argenté. L'intérieur du casque a aussi un matériel rouge et beige. L'intérieur du casque a une couche de mousse grise flexible. La dernière couche du casque est fabriqué en liège.
