Developed and manufactured in Canada. Based on research conducted by Joe Stookey at the Western College of Veterinary Medicine in Saskatoon, SK. - Function
-
Prevents calf from accessing cow's teats in order to nurse. - Technical
-
Based on earlier and wood device called "Blab" of late 1890s, which clipped onto calf's nose. Such devices allow calves to remain with their mothers, but provide cows with the opportunity to regain body condition, thereby improving pregnancy rates and avoiding abortions. Calves experience less stress during subsequent weaning, eating more and bawling less. The tags are inexpensive [costing approx. 2.00 Canadian, each in 2007], simple to use and are reusable.
