This orienting press was used by the vendor to print display cards for Caplan’s Department Store and Giant Tiger stores. Cette presse à orienter étais utilisé par le donateur pour imprimer des pancartes pour le Grand Magasin Caplan ainsi que pour les magasins Tigre Géant.

Function

This print roller was used with a printing press to produce limited numbers of small size posters otherwise known as showcards in twelve different fonts. Ce tambour d'impression était utilisé avec une presse à imprimer pour produire des pancartes ou des affiches publicitaires en douze fontes différentes.

Technical

The Line-O-Scribe printing press uses standard metal and wood display types. It represents a simple hand-operated showcard press. The press works on the travelling cylinder principle. The operator pulls a small-diameter impression cylinder over the back of a card which has been placed face down on the press’s inked types. The types are set up on a tray and locked in place with metal wedges. Cette presse à imprimer nommée le Line-O-Scribe utilise des caractères plomb et de bois. Il représente une presse à pancartes simple qui est opérable à la main. Il fonctionne sur le principe d'un cylindre voyageant. L'opérateur tire un cylindre de contre-pression a petit diamètre sous le dos d'une carte qui est placée face cachée sur les fonderies typographiques qui sont recouvertes avec de l'encre pour former une impression. Les caractères sont tenus en place avec des coins à refendre.
