This iron was given to the donor as a going-away gift when she moved from Saskatchewan to Ottawa, Ont. c. 1961-1962. She used it until 1970s during her travels to Europe. Later, she used it at home for ironing delicate items and fabrics having a fine finish. (ref. 1) - Function

To remove wrinkles, creases, etc. from fabric by means of direct application of pressure, heat and/or steam. Travel iron is generally smaller and lighter than regular irons, in order to facilitate packing within a suitcase or other travel bag. - Technical

"GENERAL [logo] ELECTRIC/ World Wide" printed on top of plate covering fabric [temperature] adjustment mechanism; all fabric settings labelled. "[GE logo]" stamped on inside of each plug prong.
