FIRST SOLD IN 1895. MODEL DOES NOT DROWN THE BEES AND CAN BE OPENED WITHOUT OPENING THE HIVE. IT IS ECONOMICAL AND IT IS EASY TO SEE WHEN IT NEEDS TO BE REFILLED. SIMILAR FEEDERS STILL SOLD BY A.I. ROOT CO. IN 1979 AS PART OF THE BEGINNER KIT. IN 2002 MADE WITH PLASTIC. OTHER FEEDERS ARE USED INSIDE THE HIVE. - Area Notes
