"THE IMPROVED HANDY/ ASBESTOS SHINGLE CUTTER" cast in raised print on upper portion of blade. "MODEL-F/ SPECIALTY TOOL MFRS. INC./ BELLEVILLEILL./ PATENTS/ 1914151/ 1981695" cast on lower portion of blade housing. "PATENT PENDING" cast in raised print on front left end bracket/elbow joint. "ADJUST/ HERE" cast on opposite end bracket./ Printed metal plate fixed to lower portion of cutter reads: " NOTE: ACCURATE ADJUSTMENT OF THE KNIVES FOR THICKNESS OF SHINGLES IS HIGHLY IMPORTANT./ WHEN THIS CUTTER BREAKS OR CRACKS SHINGLES SLIGHTLY MORE SPACE IS NEEDED BETWEEN/ THE KNIVES, AND WHEN CUTTING, REQUIRES CONSIDERABLE PRESSURE OR DOES NOT CUT AT ALL/ THEN THE KNIFE EDGES MUST BE BROUGHT SOMEWHAT CLOSER TOGETHER./ SEEK THE CORRECT ADJUSTMENT FOR THE SHINGLES YOU ARE CUTTING WITH THE ADJUSTING/ SCREW./ WHEN CUTTING TAPERED SHINGLES ADJUST AS DIRECTED AND ENTER THE THICKEST END OF/ SHINGLES AS NEAR AS POSSIBLE TO THE ADJUSTING SCREW.
