- "REF. No. 9/494/ COURSE SETTING BOMB SIGHT/ MARK IXC No 9 6 3 4/41" stencilled in white on drop-down access door on box. "LANYARD DELETED" printed on decal applied to inside of door. "IMPORTANT/ SIGHT BOMB COURSE SETTING MK. VII./ AND MK. IX. INSTRUCTIONS FOR REMOVING/ AND REPLACING BOMBSIGHT IN BOX./ TO REMOVE FROM BOX/ 1. Remove levelling bracket./ 2. Pull to the rear the aluminum knob at the/ bottom left hand corner of the sight, and pull/ sight forward off its supporting spigot./ TO REPLACE IN BOX./ 1. Set wind to zero./ 2. Set enemy speed to zero and enemy direction/ arrows to 90°./ 3. Set air speed to maximum reading./ 4. Set terminal velocity to oo./ 5. Set height bar slider to 3500ft./ 6. Release height bar clamp (at base of height bar)/ and lower height bar./ 7. Slide bomb sight on to the spigot, care being/ taken that the end of the height bar enters the/ slot provided, without being strained. Pull out/ the aluminum knob at the bottom left hand/ corner of the sight and push home until retained/ by the catch./ 8. Replace levelling bracket (if this is to be stowed/ away) in such a position that one of the slots in/ the baseplate is located on the screw pin provided./ 9. Auxiliary drift bar to be swung down in position/ for port drift./ 10. Swing down wind gauge bar to operational/ position." printed on off-white paper glued to inside of door.
