- " CARL ZEISS/ JENA " appears on four sliding supports which secure instrument to rails, and on arm and film assembly components. Decal on inside of one support reads in part " THE/ PRECISION [TABLE ?]/ INSTRUMENT [CO.] LTD./ THORNTON HEATH/ [SUR]REY ENG."/ Serial nos. "41953" and "42649" (film plate) incised on components./ One lens (internal, accessed via grating chamber) reads "Carl Zeiss Jena Germany Nr. 41953". "REAR" incised crudely on grating platform. Micrometers, scales, etc. bear incised markings.

- MISSING LIGHT SOURCE (S) USED WITH THIS INSTRUMENT. SOME MINOR FITTINGS (IE KNOB TO SECURE POSITION OF SLIDING TUBE BEHIND FILM PLATE) MISSING.
- Finish
- BRUSHED ALUMINUM TRIANGULAR-SHAPED BASE FITTED WITH PHENOLIC KNOBS FOR THREADED LEVELLING FEET (3). TRIANGULAR IRON RAILS FORM V, ON WHICH INSTRUMENT CAN BE MOVED. SPECTROGRAPH PROPER IS PREDIMINANTLY BLACK: PEBBLE TEXTURED FINISH ON GRATING CHAMBER AND CONNECTING TUBES. SMOOTH FINISHES APPLIED TO EACH ARM OF INSTRUMENT: FINISH ON SECTION BEHIND FILM HOUSING HAS BEEN DAMAGED.
