IN 1892 LIGHT SOCKET PLUGS WERE MADE AVAILABLE (TO CONNECT APPLIANCES TO ELECTRICITY THROUGH LIGHT SOCKETS). FOR THE NEXT 25 YEARS MANY VERSIONS WERE AVAILABLE, BUT APPLIANCE USERS OFTEN HAD TO CHOOSE BETWEEN THE APPLIANCE & HAVING LIGHT IN WHICH TO USE IT. THIS, TOGETHER WITH MANY OTHER PROBLEMS WITH THE LIGHT SOCKET PLUG RESULTED IN THE INVENTION OF THE WALL RECEPTACLE & PLUG. (REF. 1) - Area Notes
