- WWI (1914-1918)/ Herbert John O'Connor enlisted in the Canadian Army (28th Battalion, 6th Canadian Infantry Brigage) on Oct. 20, 1914; transferred to the RFC in Sept. 1917; was discharged on Jan. 23, 1918 (rank of Corporal) upon being granted a Commission as 2nd Lieut. (Reconnaissance & Bombing Pilot) in the Royal Flying Corps, which was absorbed into the Royal Air Force later that year; appears to have served in that capacity until at least mid-1919/ this document contains entries between Jan. 24, 1918 & May 23, 1918
