VARIABLE PULLEYS ON ENGINE SHAFT & REAR WHEEL PERMITTED GRADUAL CHANGE IN GEAR RATIO. MACHINE IS BELT DRIVEN WHICH WAS FAVOURED BY MANY BUILDERS UNTIL C. 1920, WHEN IT WAS SUPPLANTED BY CHAIN-DRIVE. - Area Notes
