ONE HAD THE CONSTRICTED NECK NOW UNIVERSAL IN MAXIMUM THERMOMETERS; THE OTHER HAD A VALVE IN THE BENT TUBE WHICH PREVENTS THE MERCURY FROM FALLING PAST THE MAXIMUM POINT.
