FIRST MODERN DIAPHRAGM DESIGN PAT'D IN ENGLAND IN 1887 WAS DESIGNED FOR USEWITHIN LENS BARREL. IN 1890 BAUSCH & LOMB INTRODUCED A SHUTTER IN WHICH 8 BLADES OPENED TO A PRE-SET APERATURE & CLOSED AGAIN. IT WAS ACTIVATED BY A PNEUMATIC DELAY CYLINDER AND RUBBER TUBE & BULB TRIGGER. THIS REMAINED THE STANDARD FOR LARGER SIZE CAMERAS FOR MANY YEARS (REF.1, PP.206-209). - Area Notes
