IN NS & NB IT WAS COMMON PRACTICE TO LEAVE TREES STANDING, SHOULD THEY BE FOUND ON A BOUNDARY LINE, & TO BLAZE THEM ON BOTH SIDES WHERE THE LINE HIT THE TREE. THE DISTINGUISHING FEATURES OF THESE TREESWERE 3 HACKS THE SURVEYOR MADE UPWARDS INTO EACH BLAZE WITH AN AXE, 2-3 INCHES APART. THESE TREES HELPED VERIFY LINE. - Function
