CLOCK IS PART OF NOCINTOGRAPH [NOCTURNAL INTENSITY RECORDER], USED TO RECORD THE INTENSITIES OF THE NIGHT AIRGLOW EMISSIONS IN THE VISIBLEREGION OF THE SPECTRUM. IT'S PURPOSE WAS TO TURN ON THE EQ. JUST AFTER THE END OF ASTRONOMICAL TWILIGHT OR MOONSET, WHICHEVER WAS LATER, AND TO SHUT OFF THE EQ. JUST BEFORE THE BEGINNING OF ASTRONOMICAL TWILIGHT OR MOONRISE, WHICHEVER IS EARLIER.
