- Label glued to the back of the ammeter reads: "DIRECTIONS./ It is important that the following be carefully observed in connecting/ up Weston Ammeter with shunts:/ 1st. See that the instrument, cables and shunt bear the same manufacturing numbers, as/ they are adjusted and numbered in sets, and each set must therefore be connected up together./ 2nd. Always connect the cable to the shunt first before connecting to the instrument./ 3d. All contacts must be cleaned and screwed down firmly./ 4th. Do not cut the cables or in any way change the/ length of them./ 5th. Do not break the seals; if the instrument is out of order ship it to the maker for repairs./ 6th. When shipping instruments fasten the cover to the packing box with screws, not nails,/ as the pounding with the hammer will injure the instrument./ WESTON ELECTRICAL INSTRUMENT CO.,/ NEWARK, N.J., U.S.A."
