BUT IN MARCH 1874 IT CHANGED IT'S NAME TO THE WHITBY & PORT PERRY EXTENSION RY CO WITH AUTHORITY TO BUILD TO THE PACIFIC OCEAN. THIS DIDN'T HAPPEN BUT WENT AS FAR AS LINDSAY WITH A NEW NAME IN 1877.
