As per curatorial worksheet "This object is a part of the history of one of the most historically significant Canadian aircraft manufacturers, Avro Canada. Avro was the high-tech aircraft manufacturer in Canada and its legacy in this country is almost with parallel. This inverter, dated November 1955 with its low serial number, indicates that it could be a part destined for one of two aircraft built by Avro, the CF-100 Canuck Mk. 5 or the CF-105 Arrow Mk. 1. The CF-100 was among the most successful all-weather fighter/interceptors of its time and is the only Canadian-designed fighter to be mass-produced. The Avro Arrow was the first and last supersonic aircraft to be designed and built in the country. Its cancellation in 1959 has remained controversial and contributed to a long-lasting mythology surrounding the aircraft." - Function
